Used Ram 1500 buying guide
The fifth generation arrived for the 2019 model year, while the previous design was sold alongside it as the Ram 1500 Classic. Engines, cab styles and 4x2 or 4x4 drive vary truck to truck.
What to check on a used Ram 1500
- Check the cab and bed configuration and whether it has 4x4.
- Look under the truck and at the hitch for signs of heavy towing or off-road use.
- If it has air suspension, watch it raise and lower.
- Check tire wear and service records.
Warranty basics
Factory coverage on a used Ram depends on when it was first sold and its mileage, and some manufacturers limit parts of their coverage to the original owner. A Ram dealer can look up what remains for a specific VIN, and we can help you check before you buy.
